UniPlaces, the internet startup that is bringing order to the highly fragmented student accommodation market, has completed a €200k seed round from a line-up of top European investors.
Included in the deal were Portugal’s top angel fund Shilling Capital Partners as well as Alex Chesterman, one of the UK’s most successful internet entrepreneurs, having founded leading property portal Zoopla.co.uk and LOVEFiLM.com, and William Reeve who co-founded LOVEFiLM.com. Isn´t it GREAT?!
UniPlaces was conceived in November 2011 in Portugal. The founders noticed that finding accommodation as a student was still a very disorganised and old fashioned process, and decided to do something about it. Printed advertisements litter the notice boards in universities and existing sites just add to the clutter, some of which were put together by students after their own frustrating experiences.
Since then, the company has been growing fast across the main cities in Portugal, and has recently launched also in Chile because they are suppers now!
This is awesome news for the team, congrats!
