DUTIES:
These will vary widely, but once you find the beta testers, 80% of time will be spent sitting down with users as they go through the web application, page by page, asking the user to describe his/her thoughts and feelings, noting what tools and actions they find easy to use, what they like using, find confusing, dislike, have a difficult time finding on the screen, etc. Needless to say you have to be an empathic listener—good at finding the thought or feeling behind what is initially
said, and have a good recording or fast note taking system. Having your own video cam is a plus.
You will be responsible for quickly finding best practices for doing this on your own. You then will be expected to participate in team meetings (via skype usually) to improve on User Interface design—which steps will be most effective in engaging potential users, and in keeping them, as well as meeting their therapeutic needs.
ADDITIONAL POSSIBLE DUTIES:
Since startups require early founders to be flexible, we hope you will also feel good about doing the following:
1) Helping us (Until we get a social media director) tweeting or writing short pieces for our blog to attract beta testers. Alternatively being a good networker to marriage education leaders in large churches who would help by providing beta testers.
2) helping us research creative ways in which to recruit beta testers
3) If necessary, helping our head bloger and Social Media director find top marriage therapist(s) willing to advise and critique our work. Ideally they would also be willing to try the site as an aftercare tool for their patients
