The startups of the Health & Biotech industry (20%), Financial Services (13%), Education & Learning and Retail, Wholesales & Consumer Products (both with 11%) were the categories with the highest representation in the new generation of technology-based enterprises that will receive financing from Corfo through Start-Up Chile programs.
Regarding the companies in the Health & Biotech category, these registered an increase of 30.8% compared to the previous generation.
For the Build, Ignite and Growth programs, a total of 87 entrepreneurs were selected, 77% of them already have operations in Chile, which will be supported according to the stage in which their business is and among which Corfo will allocate little more than $2.5 billion.
Regarding the participation of women within this new generation, the team leaders women, that is, those who lead the founding team of the startup, represent 32.18% generation, which is reflected in an increase of 2.48 pp compared to previous generations.
Since 2010, Corfo’s Start-Up Chile has supported more than 2,200 startups and today the valuation of the portfolio amounts to more than USD 5.8 billion, it has consolidated more than USD 2.1 billion in sales and has generated more than 10,000 jobs in Chile and the world, according to the Annual Alumni Passport 2021 of the accelerator.
